Apply for Subsidy

CREATING SPACES

UPDATE: 15 JANUARY 2013

Subsidy applications have now closed. Applicants will be notified by 5pm, Monday 21 January 2013.

SUBSIDISED PLACES

Due to the support of the Federal Government, Renew Australia is offering regional community leaders
a limited number of fully subsidised conference places including:

+ Conference registration

+ Two nights accommodation in Newcastle

+ Return travel expenses to Newcastle from your hometown, anywhere in Australia.

ELIGIBILITY

We are looking for regional community-based leaders who have demonstrated not-for-profit community
renewal initiative in their local area voluntarily (not part of paid employment).

Perhaps you have been involved in fixing your local park, saving your local theatre or have been apart of
building a community garden. Maybe you have initiated or organised a outdoor community event, pop-up
or mural. If you are currently involved in or are willing to take your community-based renewal initiative
to the next level we want to hear from you.

PURPOSE

To reward and enable inspirational regional community-based leaders to take their renewal initiatives further.

APPLICANTS

+ Must complete the below form addressing the selection criteria.

+ Agree to forfeit the subsidy should the applicant, for whatever reason, be unable to attend.

+ Must submit a written report (max. 3 pages) on the benefits of your attendance at the conference and
an outline of any activity initiated by you within your local community due to your experience and knowledge
gained at the conference. This report will need to be submitted within four months of the conference (July 2013).

SELECTION CRITERIA

+ Location: Preference will be given to applicants who live in regional cities and towns within Australia.

+ Your story: Provide an outline of your interest in community renewal initiatives and evidence of initiation
and / or participation in local community renewal activities (please include website links to images, promotional material,
blog / newspaper articles where possible).

+ Perceived value: Outline your perceived value of the conference; what you are hoping to learn
and achieve and what kind of workshops you would like to attend, or information you are most interested in understanding.

+ Potential: In the event that there are more applicants than the number of subsidies available,
applicant's potential and willingness to pursue a community renewal initiative in the future will be
taken into account. Your ideas for a community renewal space activation project within your town should be
outlined briefly.

SELECTION PANEL

Two Renew Australia employees, none of whom are applying for a subsidy.
