Kate Murray

Senior Manager, Culture, City of Sydney Council

Kate Murray is the Senior Manager Culture for the Council of the City of Sydney (City). Her current role focuses on the development of the City’s first Cultural Policy, along with the creation and delivery of strategic projects including creative placemaking, sector initiatives and support programs.

Kate’s experience in the cultural sector is varied, including events, business development and marketing as well as overseeing departments as diverse as history, curatorial and cultural development. Kate has also worked for a range of arts organisations, most notably the Sydney Film Festival as Marketing Manager and holds an Executive Master of Business Administration from the University of Technology Sydney.

After a 14-year absence Kate returned to her home, the city of Newcastle, in December 2009, joining the Board of Renew Newcastle in 2011 as a passionate advocate for the revitalisation of the city’s centre.
